Purchased from Ingrams water and air, very happy with their service. I had many questions to them before and after my purchase and they were very quick and knowledgable with their answers. The system was shipped fast and very well packaged. This is promoted as DIY because you don’t need an HVAC tech but you do need to know what you are doing to ensure a proper, safe install. Take your time and plan your installation well before starting, try and locate your air handler near the centre of the area you are heating/cooling to best distribute the conditioned air. The unit heats very well but I need to use extra fans to transfer the heat around the house and I have it centrally located in a very open floor plan. Check over all your equipment before starting, my compressor had a loose quick connect fitting but it was discovered and tightened before opening the refrigerant transfer valve. I have just finished my install and have only had my system running for less than two weeks but so far very happy with it, it is very quiet and heats well even with outside temp just below freezing. It appears well built and if the longevity and quality is there I am already planning the next purchase for the basement games room to replace the electric baseboard heaters.

Cools and heats my 1500sqft garage well so far. I installed this unit just as the fall started here so I haven’t seen it in full houston mid-summer heat. However after fully insulating my garage walls and attic and installing this unit I’ve been very happy with the heating and cooling. Installation is incredibly simple if you are handy. Handy meaning you aren’t afraid of cutting a hole in the side of your home, installing a 220V breaker in your panel, and running wiring from your panel to a disconnect box (same style of box as your normal home AC, wouldn’t run it without it!) with an appropriately sized fuse and breaker.

Those are the only tricky parts of this install. If you can do that stuff, you can install this unit. You do not need an HVAC tech to do the install. That’s what makes this unit worth it over lower cost units which are not DIY. You think you’re saving money, but ask an HVAC tech what he wants for an install. The ones in Houston are insane, they want more than the unit costs. So being able to DIY for a little more money is a huge win.
