My 11” iPad Pro has keyboard (onscreen) problems, November 27, 2018

I’ll get right to the point. I ordered the 11” iPad Pro the day it was announced and received it the first Thursday of shipping. I noticed immediately that the onscreen keyboard was not responding to taps consistently. Specifically the t, g, b, y, h, space bar, and the middle pane of the three predictive text panes above the keys responded to taps only intermittently, causing some pretty wacky text to appear. If you look at the keyboard those 7 keys are contiguous areas in the center of the keyboard, suggestive of a relatively unresponsive area in the screen map. I both called and text chatted with Apple help and could get no solution. After one week of struggle, constantly re-editing text in several apps I made an appointment at my favorite Apple Store. They ordered a new iPad Pro for me and it was available the next day. After bringing it home I discovered the new iPad had the same problem on the same keys! Googling online to find others with the same problem yielded no results. What do you suppose the odds are of there being only two instances of this problem’s existence with both instances occurring with the same customer? I have read about problems with finger capacitance but the two 9.7” iPads using the identical iOS 12.1 (which I have used this week) have no troublesome keys whatsoever.
So it’s a beautiful iPad waiting for an online keyboard fix. None of the Geniuses at my Apple Store claimed any prior knowledge of this problem. One of them was highly doubtful of my claim because once I was in the store I couldn’t get the questionable keyboard behavior to happen. As soon as I got home it was there again. My old 9.7 iPad, on which I’m writing this review is working perfectly. My guess is that a software fix is needed. I also believe (or suspect strongly) that Apple is aware of the problem and doesn’t want to scare off customers. This review is time sensitive. It’s only November 27, 2018, not even a month after release of the 11” iPad Pro so the problem may already be fixed before you read this. Acknowledgement that there is a problem would be a good first step.
